Ethics & Sourcing Policy
Accuracy first
- We verify facts against primary sources wherever possible: government documents, official releases, court and property records, and organizers’ published schedules. When we rely on a secondary source, such as another newspaper or a reference work, we name it and link to it.
- Each article ends with a Sources box listing what we relied on.
- We do not fabricate. No invented people, composite characters, made-up quotes, estimated prices presented as fact, or events we can’t confirm. If we can’t verify a detail, we leave it out.
- Quotations are used only when they come from a public statement or an on-the-record interview, and they are attributed and, where possible, linked.
Independence
- The Dossier isn’t affiliated with the City of Beverly Hills or any business we cover.
- We don’t accept payment for news coverage. Any sponsored content will be clearly labeled Sponsored and kept out of news sections.
News and commerce stay separate
- Shopping and book recommendations appear only in The Reading Room and The Edit, and in clearly labeled modules.
- News stories never contain affiliate links inside the reporting.
- See our affiliate disclosure.
Use of technology
We may use software tools for research, transcription and copy-editing. Every published fact is checked against a cited source before it goes out. Tools don’t replace verification.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. See our corrections policy.
