Beverly Hills' Subway Stop Is Still a Spring 2027 Story. Here's What's Happening on Wilshire Now

Final paving between El Camino and Rexford runs Nov. 2–4, the City Council has kept its holiday construction ban, and Metro still forecasts the Beverly Dr Station opening in spring 2027.

The Metro D Line has been running to the edge of Beverly Hills since May 8, 2026, when Section 1 opened with stations at Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega. The stop in the heart of the city is still months away.

When the Beverly Dr Station opens

The station was known during planning as Wilshire/Rodeo and is now called Beverly Dr. The City of Beverly Hills says Metro expects to open it and the Century City/Constellation station in spring 2027. The entrance will be at the southwest corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Reeves Drive, on the site Metro and its contractor now use as the Reeves staging yard. The city says that while future development above the entrance is possible, there are no current plans for it.

Metro’s September 2026 community presentation lists Section 2, the 2.59-mile stretch with Beverly Dr and Century City, for spring 2027. It lists Section 3, which continues to Westwood/UCLA and Westwood/VA Hospital, for fall 2027. Metro marks both dates as “subject to change.”

This week: final paving on Wilshire

The city’s Oct. 30 construction update says final street paving on Wilshire Boulevard between El Camino Drive and Rexford Drive is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 2, through Wednesday, Nov. 4. During that work:

  • Wilshire will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
  • Intermittent turn restrictions may be in place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 8:15 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Elsewhere around the station site, Wilshire stays open with two lanes in each direction between El Camino and Crescent, and left turns from Wilshire onto S. Canon Drive are restricted. Curb-ramp work continues in phases on the south side of Wilshire between El Camino and Camden. The city notes that all dates are subject to change.

No Metro work over the holidays

At its Oct. 20 meeting, the Beverly Hills City Council denied Metro’s request to waive the city’s winter holiday construction moratorium. According to the city, no Metro work will take place from Thanksgiving Day 2026 through New Year’s Day 2027.

Under the street

According to the city, the subway tunnels are generally 50 to 70 feet below the surface, and deeper than 100 feet in some places. Tunneling from Century City to the Beverly Dr Station finished in January 2022. Tunneling along Wilshire to the Wilshire/La Cienega Station finished on Feb. 1, 2023. Metro Art has commissioned artists Meleko Mokgosi, Rigo 23 and Devon Tsuno for the station’s entrance and platform, and the city’s Arts and Culture Commission took part in choosing them.

We’ll update this story when Metro announces a firm opening date.
